Uzbekistan, (officially the Republic of) is located in Central Asia. It is surrounded by five landlocked countries: Kazakhstan to the north; Kyrgyzstan to the northeast; Tajikistan to the Southeast; Afghanistan to the south, and Turkmenistan to the southwest. Its capital and largest city is Tashkent. Uzbekistan is part of the Turkic world. The country speaks most Uzbek language; while Russian is widely spoken and understood throughout the country. However, Tajik is also spoken as a minority language, predominantly in Samarkand and Bukhara. Moreover, Islam is the predominant religion in the territory, with most Uzbeks being Sunni Muslims.

Uzbekistan is a secular state, with a presidential constitutional government in place. The country comprises 12 regions (vilayats); while Tashkent City is an autonomous republic. As of 2022, Uzbekistan had a population of a bit over 36 million inhabitants.
