Guangzhou, Gem of the Pearl River
Guangzhou is commonly considered as the starting point of the marine Silk Road. Located at the north of the Pearl River delta, it is nowadays the capital city the province of Guandong. Guangzhou has always been an important trading center and a busy port. At a Chinese scale, Guangzhou is a medium-sized city with a population of 6.7 million. Guangzhou got the nickname of Goat City as according to the legend, five gods riding on five goats brought the first grain to the city. Guangzhou is quite important city in the Chinese Islamic history and heritage since, probably, the first mosque built in China, the Guangta Mosque, known also as Huaisheng Mosque is located right here in Guangzhou.
The tour features visits to the most famous historical sites and touristic spots in Guangzhou, including the 100-year-old Chen Family Temple, Islamic heritage sights as well as Yuexiu Park, Memorial Hall of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, and, naturally, probably the earliest mosque built in China, the Tang Dynasty (618-907) Guangta Mosque. Memorial Hall of Dr. Sun Yat-san and Yuexiu Park.
